Preview

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a doubt due to a hamstring injury but defender William Gallas could return.

Winger Aaron Lennon remains sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Ledley King will have a late fitness test. Michael Dawson is out for the season.

Bolton defender Marcos Alonso could return to the first team after three months out with a broken foot.

Striker Marvin Sordell is cup-tied, while winger Chris Eagles is a doubt with a hamstring strain.

After three successive league defeats, Spurs are in danger of losing third spot to rivals Arsenal and will hope a change in competition brings about a reversal in their recent fortunes.

"It's a massive game for us," said winger Gareth Bale.

"We know our league form hasn't been great of late, but the FA Cup is a different competition and, being at home, we've got a great chance to get to the semi-finals.

"We know it's not going to be an easy game. It's going to be hard work - it's a cup tie.

"We'll just go out there, give it 100%, play our best football and hopefully we can be in the semi-final."
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• Of 101 league and cup games between these clubs since 1908, Tottenham have won 45, Bolton 37 and 19 have been drawn.

• Tottenham took their run of home wins against Bolton to five with a 3-0 triumph in the equivalent Premier League fixture in December, when the Trotters had Gary Cahill sent off. It is seven-and-a-half years since Bolton last won at White Hart Lane.

• This is the seventh time they have been drawn against each other in the FA Cup, with Tottenham leading 4-2. The north London club twice scored four unanswered goals to win their two most recent ties. Only twice have these clubs been able to resolve an FA Cup tie at the first time of asking.

Tottenham Hotspur

• The 3-1 victory over League One Stevenage in the fifth-round replay is the only occasion in Tottenham's last four league and cup outings that they have avoided defeat.

• Tottenham are chasing a 19th semi-final appearance, their second in three seasons, and sixth since winning the FA Cup for the eighth time in their history in 1991.

• Harry Redknapp's side are facing Premier League opposition for the first time in this cup run, and will be hoping to avoid a third successive exit at the hands of such clubs, having been ousted by Portsmouth in the semi-finals in 2009 and Fulham in the fourth round last season.

Bolton Wanderers

• Bolton may be fourth from bottom in the table and fighting to preserve their Premier League status, 14 places lower than Spurs, but they are also looking for a second successive appearance in the semi-finals and 15th in their history.

• Since losing in a fifth-round replay to Spurs in February 2010, the Trotters have won seven of 10 FA Cup matches, and lost one, to Stoke in the last four last season. They have also won four and drawn one of their last five FA Cup matches on the road.

• The four-time winners, who last lifted the trophy in 1958, have overcome Premier League opposition on four of the last five occasions they have had to face them, including Swansea in the current run.
