This fixture will remind Sunderland fans of what might have been in terms of their FA cup dreams, as these two clubs meet for the fourth time this season, with Sunderland yet to beat David Moyes's team.

It is Everton's last game before their much-anticipated semi-final meeting with Liverpool, but their two results since knocking Sunderland out in the replay have proved it hasn't been a distraction, with victory over West Brom and Saturday's draw at Norwich.

In fact Everton have only lost twice in their last 16 games in all competitions and they will be determined to maintain that momentum to take to Wembley at the weekend.

“Sunderland already have first hand experience of Jelavic who scored in the FA Cup quarter-final replay at the Stadium of Light.”

Moyes's clever business in the January transfer window has rejuvenated the team. They are traditionally stronger in the second half of the season, but the new faces have had a huge effect.

The return of Steven Pienaar was a masterstroke, the invention of Darron Gibson has helped create chances and the arrival of a goalscorer that the club have craved for more than two seasons has proved pivotal. Nikica Jelavic has five goals in seven starts since arriving on Merseyside and his presence has added a new dimension to their play.

Sunderland already have first-hand experience of the Croatian international who scored in the FA Cup quarter-final replay at the Stadium of Light.

They arrive at Goodison having nearly won at Manchester City and held Spurs at home, and they will be keen to continue the Martin O'Neill factor for the remaining games.

A tally of 31 points from a possible 54 has been secured since his arrival. Sunderland haven't finished higher than tenth since Peter Reid's team recorded a seventh- place finish back in 2001, the season they last beat Everton in the Premier League.

The Sunderland boss won't allow the foot to be taken off the pedal for the rest of the campaign.

While Everton desperately want to beat Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, three points would help their chances of finishing above their Merseyside rivals for only the second time in the Premier League.

Six matches left and under pressure, not the ideal scenario for either club entering the crucially busy Easter period. Barnsley sit 23rd in the current Championship form table and West Ham 15th (taken from their last six matches) so nothing much to inspire supporter confidence as the Tykes look to ensure Championship survival and the Hammers try to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Barnsley do have a nine-point cushion on Bristol City, who hold the final relegation place, but with five of the top nine still to play and a trip to Ashton Gate to take on the Robins later this month, Tykes manager Keith Hill knows there is no room for complacency.

West Ham have won only once in seven league games, a run that has seen them lose their grip on the second automatic promotion place to Reading, a side who beat them 4-2 at Upton Park last Saturday. The Hammers now trail the Royals by four points with only 18 left to play for.

Recent criticism aimed at West Ham is that they have drawn too many matches - not something that can be aimed at Barnsley, who have only shared the points just once in their last 31 league games.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

• West Ham have won their previous three matches against Barnsley, including their most recent trip to Oakwell on 9 August 1997. That occasion was Barnsley's opening game of their one and only Premier League season.

• An early header from Papa Bouba Diop proved the difference between the sides when they met at Upton Park just before Christmas. It was West Ham's fifth successive victory over the Tykes in league and cup. The last three have ended 6-0, 3-0 and 2-0.

• It is 22 years since Barnsley last registered a league win over the Hammers, winning 1-0 at Oakwell in the old Second Division in December 1990.

Barnsley

• Nine defeats and just two wins in 12 outings have seen Barnsley slip from 13th to four places and nine points outside the relegation zone.

• The Tykes have not managed a home win against any of the top eight, nor have they kept a clean sheet against a top-half club, home or away.

• Keith Hill's side are one of three clubs (the others are Millwall and Coventry) not to have won from a losing position in the Championship this season.

West Ham United

• Defeat against Reading last time out is West Ham's only loss in their last 12 games, although this run includes seven draws.

• Victory would see West Ham break a club record for number of away wins in a single season. They have won 11 matches to date, which equals a club record set in 1957-58 and 1922-23. They already have more away points than any other club (38), and travel to Oakwell on a five-match unbeaten away run.

• Three points would secure a sixth double of the season, having already recorded home and away victories over Blackpool, Peterborough, Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Portsmouth.

Back in August, pre-season predictions for Swansea and Newcastle could best be described as gloomy, with many experts tipping both to face a season-long struggle, and almost all making the Swans favourites for an immediate return to the Championship.
In truth, it's hard to determine which team has embarrassed the critics more.
Swansea's football principles have won admirers far and wide. There were many who feared that their unrelenting pursuit of the right pass at the right time may be too naive for the Premier League and would be cruelly exposed. How wrong they were!
For Iniesta and Xavi, read Britton and Allen; for Fabregas and Messi, read Sigurdsson and Graham. Barcelona, it seems, are the new Swansea.

Team news for Good Friday's Championship clash between Watford and Blackpool at Vicarage Road.

Adrian Mariappa will again watch from the stands as Watford host Blackpool on Good Friday.

The centre-back has missed the club's last three matches with an ankle injury and will continue to sit out against the Seasiders, although manager Sean Dyche remains hopeful he will play again this season.

Otherwise, the Hornets boss has a full-strength squad to select from as his side aim to extend their seven-match unbeaten run and continue their late surge for a play-off place.

Chris Iwelumo will keep his place in attack having marked his recall against Leeds last weekend with a brace to secure an impressive 2-0 victory at Elland Road.

Dyche is unlikely to make any changes to his starting line-up at a sell-out Vicarage Road for a game which, if Watford were to win, would see them move within three points of their opponents.

Blackpool's veteran striker Kevin Phillips will face a late fitness test.

The Seasiders' top scorer missed out on last weekend's 3-0 win over former club Southampton due to ankle and hip soreness.

Phillips might have to be content with a place on the bench at Vicarage Road - where he started his professional career in 1994 - as Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Stephen Dobbie combined well in attack against the npower Championship leaders, the latter bagging a brace on his first start since returning to Blackpool on loan from Swansea last month.

Fellow forward Roman Bednar will remain on the sidelines and the West Brom loanee could miss the rest of the season with damaged knee ligaments.

Captain Barry Ferguson and left-back Stephen Crainey were rested against the Saints and return to manager Ian Holloway's plans.

Blackpool head into the Easter weekend in the play-off places, lying fifth ahead of Brighton and Middlesbrough on goal difference.

eam news ahead of Good Friday's Championship clash between Burnley and Brighton at Turf Moor.

Ben Mee will undergo a late fitness test before Burnley entertain play-off hopefuls Brighton.

The 22-year-old former Manchester City youth team captain was ruled out of Tuesday night's defeat to Birmingham with a back injury and the absence of fellow defender Danny Lafferty (hamstring) meant winger Ross Wallace was pressed into action as an emergency left-back.

"He'll be assessed and hopefully he'll be alright," Clarets assistant manager Jason Tindall told the Lancashire Telegraph. "He missed out on Tuesday which was unfortunate for ourselves and for him.

"Hopefully he will be back available for us during this busy Easter period. We need as many bodies as possible so hopefully he'll come through his fitness test and be available for selection."

Dean Marney is expected to retain his place in midfield despite suffering a head injury in a collision with Blues striker Nikola Zigic that forced him to be substituted.

Forward duo Jay Rodriguez (hip) and Martin Paterson (hamstring) are set to remain on the sidelines, while former West Ham wideman Junior Stanislas is pushing for a start following his impressive cameo from the bench against Birmingham.

Brighton midfielders Liam Bridcutt and Matt Sparrow are suspended.

Bridcutt starts a two-match ban after he was booked for the 10th time this season against Middlesbrough last weekend, and Sparrow completes his two-game suspension for a red card at Nottingham Forest the week before.

The Seagulls can welcome back Gonzalo Jara Reyes after a three-match ban, although Inigo Calderon may keep his place at right-back after scoring twice in his last three appearances.

Midfielder Gary Dicker was an unused substitute against Boro, his first appearance in the squad since breaking his leg in October, and he should be involved again.

Defender Tommy Elphick is the only long-term absentee with an Achilles problem.`

Reading are 8/13 (bet £13 to win £8) with Paddy Power to take one step closer to Premier League football by beating Leeds United at the Madjeski Stadium on Friday afternoon. They have cemented their place in the automatic promotion spots in the past few months and are only six games away from making it back to the big time.

Time is running out for Leeds however, who are 11/2 with bet Victor to win the game, for their hopes of a play-off spot. They have slipped to six points below the top six with only six games left to play. Punters can back the draw at a top price of 3/1 with Bet Victor.

Leeds do in fact have the fourth best away record in the league, though that mainly is based on a large series of wins against the lower teams in the division. They have beaten six of the bottom nine away from home, though have only beaten two sides in the top halve of the table from the nine games they have played away to them. They beat Middlebrough away 2-0, but apart from that lost to Birmingham, Southampton and drew to West Ham, Brighton and Hull.

Reading to win with a draw no bet is best at 1/4 with Sky bet while Leeds to win with a draw no bet is best at 7/2 with Paddy Power. Leeds are 5/4 to win with a (+1) goal handicap advantage with Bet365.

Reading have a strong home record as you'd expect, beating the four teams below them - the playoff candidates - though they aren't unbeatable, with Cardiff, Hull and Watford, the three teams surrounding Leeds, having come to the Madjeski and won.

The 1-0 Reading win is best at 7/1 with Ladbrokes, while the 2-1 home win is also 7/1 with William Hill. The 1-1 draw is best at 15/2 with the same firm while you can back Leeds to sneak a 1-0 win at 16/1 with Bet365.

Reading's Jason Roberts is best at 11/8 to score with Sky bet anytime in the game, while the Royals' Noel Hunt is 6/4 with Sporting Bet to get on the scoresheet. Welsh international striker Simon Church is 9/5 with Paddy Power while Ross McCormack is best at 13/5 with Bet365.

Leeds' Lucciano Becchio is best at 11/4 with Sky bet, as is Tomas Cywka. Jimmy Kebe is 7/2 with Paddy Power, as is Mikael Forssell.

Reading lie two points behind Southampton with six games left to play, the South Coast side leading the way, with West Ham four points behind Reading in third place. Reading are 2/1 with Blue Square and Boylesports to win the league, with Saints at a top price of 1/2 with William Hill.  West Ham are back at 20/1, best with Ladbrokes.

Reading are 1/4 to get promoted with Coral, with Saints 1/10 with Bodog and West Hames 11/10 with Bet365. Birmingham City in fourth are best at 10/3 with Coral while Leeds Unitd are 11/2 to finish in the top six with Stan James and 28/1 to achieve promotion with Bet365.

The match kicks off at 1400 GMT and is live on Sky Sports.

Olympiacos defender Vasilis Torosidis believes a new-found determination has been the key in the Greek side’s European success this season. The reigning Greek champions face Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv in the second leg of their Europa League round-of-16 tie on Thursday night at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

Olympiacos took a slender 1-0 lead in the first leg and extended their tally of consecutive clean sheets to 10 in all competitions.

Torosidis knows that achievement was no mean feat as Metalist have been the tournament’s most prolific scorers, having netted 23 goals in eight games since the start of the group stage.

The win, Olympiacos’ fifth straight victory in Europe, mirrors their domestic form, as Ernesto Valverde’s side have reached the semi-finals of the Greek Cup and reclaimed top spot in the Superleague.

The recent success comes after they dropped into the Europa League after exiting the Champions League in the group stage, but Torosidis believes a turnaround in belief has been the key to their success.

“There has been a change in the team’s mentality, a fierce determination,” Torosidis told UEFA.com. “We really go for it in every match, whether we are up against big names or theoretically smaller teams.

“I hope we can keep this frame of mind, because the results we have been getting add to the prestige of the team.

“In order to keep 10 clean sheets in a row, a team needs – above all – to have luck on their side.

“It is also the product of hard, collective work, not just by the guys at the back. Everyone who has played, up front, in midfield or in defence, has helped to achieve this amazing statistic.”

Ukrainian Premier League side Metalist approach the return leg on the back of a 1-1 draw against Metalurh Donetsk in their domestic league.

They are currently third in their league behind Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk.

“Metalist are skilful and have a lot of pace,” Torosidis said.

“Our coach said after the match in Ukraine that the second leg would be harder for us. I absolutely agree with him.”`
