Preview

Chelsea's David Luiz and Gary Cahill face a race to be fit for the Champions League final after hamstring injuries ruled them out of this match.

Midfielder John Obi Mikel is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from a knee injury.

Blackburn's Bradley Orr is out after having surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Paul Robinson and David Dunn are doubts, but Gael Givet has been cleared to play after being substituted against Wigan with an unspecified problem.
MATCH PREVIEW

This end-of-season dead rubber is bound to elicit a level of disinterest which will certainly not be in keeping with how the rest of the season has panned out for these clubs, having both had an extraordinary time of it since August.
LAWRO'S PREDICTION

"Chelsea will want to win to sign off for the summer at home in the right way and head for Munich on the back of a win."

Blackburn Rovers are already down and out and will be playing Championship football next season, while Chelsea are assured of their worst league finish for 10 years, but have still won the FA Cup and have a Champions League final to look forward to next week.

It has been an unedifying season for Rovers both on and off the pitch. The fans have been at odds with the manager Steve Kean and the Venky's family, who own the club, before a ball was even kicked this season.

They have endured a succession of crises and protests and looked doomed long before their relegation was confirmed at Ewood Park on Monday with defeat by local rivals Wigan.

Whoever is in charge there next season looks to have a mountain to climb to unify a club that seems so fractured at present.

After a disastrous opening two thirds of the season for Chelsea, they could end it in the most spectacular way possible by lifting the Champions League trophy, the prize that owner Roman Abramovich covets more than any other. Whether that will be enough to get interim boss Roberto Di Matteo the job permanently is another matter.

If they don't beat Bayern Munich next Saturday, their league position means their fate is clear - it will be Europa League football for the Blues next season - something Abramovich will not find palatable at all.
