West Brom will aim to drag themselves back out of the relegation zone as they visit Stoke on Monday.

Stoke have no such worries as a point would see them edge back into the top half and keep them well placed to mount an unexpected push for European qualification.

But West Brom's position became increasingly perilous over the weekend as wins for West Ham and Wolves saw the Baggies slip into the bottom three for the first time this season.

The Baggies had been buoyed by Carlos Vela's late equaliser in last week's derby with Wolves, which gave Roy Hodgson a 1-1 draw in his first match in charge after replacing Roberto Di Matteo.

Another point would be enough to edge them back to fourth bottom while a first win in six would send the Baggies into 16th above Birmingham, who they visit on Saturday.

Albion have had little joy against Stoke in recent years, though. The Potters' 3-0 win at The Hawthorns in November means they have won seven of their last eight meetings, with West Brom's last victory coming in 2003 and their last away win against Stoke way back in 1982.

Although Tony Pulis' men have lost four of their last five league games, all those defeats came on the road and they have won their last three league games at the Britannia Stadium, as well as beating Brighton there last weekend to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Team news

Stoke winger Matthew Etherington remains doubtful after a back injury ruled him out of last Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Arsenal.

Defender Abdoulaye Faye (hamstring) is unlikely to figure after missing the last four matches while striker Mamady Sidibe is out with a ruptured Achilles.

West Brom boss Hodgson should have a full squad available with keeper Scott Carson available again after illness.

Midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu (hamstring) is also back in contention while Graham Dorrans (slight knock) and Jonas Olsson (illness) should remain in the side having both been passed fit.

Hodgson may opt to bring Vela back into the starting line-up in place of Marc-Antoine Fortune after the on-loan Arsenal striker scored his first goal for the club last week.

Possible starting XIs:

Stoke: Begovic, Wilson, Huth, Shawcross, Pugh, Delap, Whelan, Whitehead, Pennant, Walters, Carew.

West Brom: Myhill, Tamas, Olsson, Jara, Shorey, Thomas, Scharner, Brunt, Dorrans, Odemwingie, Vela.
