Basement dwellers Wolves will be looking to bring cup heroes Liverpool back down to earth with a bump on Tuesday evening.

It is imperative for Mick McCarthy's side that they take something from the game, with a 10-match winless run having sent them tumbling into the Premier League drop zone.

They are only a point adrift of safety, but points are proving hard to come by for the men from Molineux.

Wolves have also been struggling to make the most of home advantage in recent weeks, with just one point taken from their last four games in front of their own supporters.

A leaky defence has been a problem all season, with 19 games having come and gone since the club last picked up a clean sheet.

That statistic will concern McCarthy, as will the fact that Wolves have found the target just three times in their seven previous top-flight meetings with Liverpool.

The Reds will be hoping for more of the same in midweek, as they turn their attention back to league action following cup joy.

Liverpool's last two outings have seen them dash the Carling Cup and FA Cup dreams of Manchester giants City and United respectively, but they need to start producing in the league if they are to challenge for a top-four finish.

Kenny Dalglish's side have won only one of their last six top-flight fixtures and are now six points adrift of the UEFA Champions League places.

The loss of Luis Suarez to suspension has had a notable impact on Liverpool's performances, with the Reds taking just four points and scoring four goals in the four Premier League games the Uruguayan striker has missed so far.
