Preview

Bolton forward Kevin Davies could return on Saturday, having overcome the knee injury he suffered during last month's home defeat by Wigan.

Defender Marcos Alonso is a doubt after returning to Spain following the death of his grandfather.

QPR have Djibril Cisse and Samba Diakite available after suspension.

Full-backs Luke Young and Taye Taiwo could return to the starting line-up after injury, but Adel Taarabt is a doubt with a hamstring complaint.
MATCH PREVIEW

As usual, the bottom of the Premier League looks set to provide at least as much late-season nail biting as the top.

“I enjoyed The Four-Year Plan TV documentary on QPR, though they look more like a club without a plan at all to me”

Up there it's a two-horse race between the Manchester megaliths; down in the depths it's probably three from five for the drop, unless Aston Villa can be tempted down the slippery slope to make it three from six.

After suffering unsurprising defeats at Chelsea and Manchester City, Owen Coyle's Bolton team face what could be their third "must-win" game of the season. It shows how crazy the expression "must-win" is that they have already won one and lost one such game this season without securing safety or being relegated - "must-win" is really for the final day of the season, when I reckon at least two of the relegation places will still be open.

The other two games I am talking about were Bolton's 2-1 win at Blackburn in December and their 2-1 defeat at home to Wigan in February.

I enjoyed The Four-Year Plan TV documentary on QPR last weekend, though they look more like a club without a plan at all to me. They have used 40 players this season in league and cup, bought and discarded players like confetti and changed the manager without ever looking like they are going to do anything other than struggle.

It's easy to say that they have enough attacking talent to stay up, but the task of finding the best mix of Zamora, Cisse, Taarabt, Bothroyd, Macheda, Campbell, Helguson, Mackie, Wright-Phillips, and Buzsacky could take longer than QPR have.

After playing Bolton they will have 10 games left, including encounters against Liverpool , Arsenal, Manchester United, Spurs and Chelsea before they finish their season at the Etihad against Mark Hughes' old club Man City - and if that's a "must-win" game they will be in trouble.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Bolton are unbeaten in their last six meetings with QPR, winning five of them.
QPR's last win at Bolton was a 1-0 Premier League victory in September 1995. They have lost all four subsequent visits.

Bolton

Bolton are winless in five league matches and have suffered four successive defeats for the third time this season.
Their only goal in those last five games was scored by Mark Davies in the home defeat by Wigan.
The Trotters have the worst home record in the top five divisions in England - earning eight points from 13 matches.
They have suffered an unrivalled 19 defeats in the Premier League this season. No club has lost as many games at this stage of a season and avoided relegation.
Kevin Davies is a booking away from equalling Lee Bowyer's Premier League record of 102 yellow cards.

QPR

QPR have won only one of their last 15 league games, accruing five points in seven games since Mark Hughes took over as manager.
The west London side have earned as many points away as at Loftus Road this season (11).
Rangers have gone 18 consecutive league matches without keeping a clean sheet since a 1-0 home win against Chelsea on 23 October. This is their worst such run in the top flight since a 20-match streak from November 1978 to April 1979.
They have lost a league-high 15 points from winning positions.
They have used more players in the league this season (33) than any other team.
Clint Hill is hoping to make his 400th career league start.
