AS Roma The Giallorossi will be looking to continue their winning tradition as hosts of the derby della Capitale, the last time they were defeated by Lazio was back in 1997. Roma has come out on top in the last four encounters when playing as a host.
Roma are coming into this match after some poor performances on the road, they’ve only collected one point (vs Catania) in their last four travels and last weekend they’ve suffered their most severe defeat of the season, 1-4 against Atalanta.
Luis Enrique will be without Pablo Osvaldo, Marco Cassetti and Fernando Gago as they are all suspended, but Totti and Simplicio returned to training after recovering from some minor injuries.
Top scorer Pablo Osvaldo will probably be replaced by Erik Lamela up front to partner Fabio Borini in attack.
Lazio’s performances are somewhat similar to their rivals, they are still strong when playing at Olimpico, but can’t seem able to collect points from their travels.
The Biancocelesti lost four of their last five away games, conceding 14 goals in the process. However, Lazio ended a difficult week by grabbing a narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina, a Viola team that is in freefall, they’ve dropped to the 16th place after this loss.
Miroslav Klose was decisive once again for Reja’s team scoring the only goal of the match against Fiorentina, a victory that came as a relief after the defeats to Atletico Madrid and Palermo.
There are some serious injury worries for Reja, as most of his defenders have been ruled out for this match, the list containing Lorik Cana, Akdoulay Konko, Marius Stankevicius and Stefan Radu, so we are likely to see Scaloni and Garrido even though their combined appearances in the league so far are just 8.
Captain Tommaso Rocchi, who scored 5 goals this season is also likely to miss this derby, so all eyes will be on Miroslav Klose who’ll be the one responsible with converting Lazio’s chances.
The German did well this season scoring 12 goals so far, which makes him a big threat for Roma’s defense, but let’s not forget Hernanes, the midfielder has the skill to score from outside the box whenever he’s given the opportunity.
