Preview

Wigan are sweating over striker Hugo Rodallega's fitness after he suffered a jarred knee last weekend.

Albert Crusat injured a toe in training and is likely to join David Jones and keeper Mike Pollitt on the sidelines.

West Brom defenders Craig Dawson and Gabriel Tamas are vying to replace the suspended Jonas Olsson.

Top scorer Peter Odemwingie is rated extremely doubtful with a calf problem so either Shane Long, Somen Tchoyi or Simon Cox are likely to step in.
MATCH PREVIEW

Wigan Athletic's seven-year spell in the top flight will end unless their 10-match run-in can provide a sensational change in fortune, starting with this must-win game.

On current form they're doomed. Roberto Martinez's side has won just once in 13 matches. Their only home victory this season came nearly seven months ago. They can't keep clean sheets - with just one in their last 11 league games - and they can't score, hitting just nine in that spell. Defenders have made awful individual errors. Hugo Rodallega has had a torrid time up front. The summer signings just haven't been successful so far.

“A league double over the Baggies could inspire a dramatic escape”

Victor Moses has shone at times and James McCarthy, at just 21, has been a fine example to players much older than him. There is still hope, of course. A league double over the Baggies could inspire a dramatic escape. But it'll take a huge improvement.

Defeat at Old Trafford last week ended the Baggies three-match winning run. Only the Manchester clubs have recorded more away wins than West Brom this season. They will be missing the suspended Jonas Olsson, but Liam Ridgewell's arrival has strengthened their defensive ranks and they have enough attacking threat to record a seventh away victory.

Overall they look to be too strong in all departments for Wigan. But there's always the Martinez factor. He's conjured up too many surprises from his team in the past to take anything for granted.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

This is the 14th league meeting between the two sides; Wigan have six wins, compared to West Brom's five.
Wigan are unbeaten in their last three matches against the Baggies, including a 2-1 win at the Hawthorns in December.
West Brom's most recent win over Wigan was a 3-1 home success in May 2009, when Marc-Antoine Fortune scored twice.
The Baggies have kept clean sheets in only two of their 13 league encounters against Wigan.

Wigan

Wigan have won just once in their last 13 matches, 2-1 at Bolton last month.
Roberto Martinez will claim his 100th Premier League point as Wigan manager if his side avoid defeat.
Only four clubs have had the same amount or fewer points than the Latics' 21 after 28 Premier League matches and stayed up - Fulham (19 points) in 2007-08, West Ham (20) in 2006-07, Portsmouth (18) in 2005-06 and opponents West Brom (21) in 2004-05.
If selected, Wigan's Maynor Figueroa will be making his 150th club career appearance.

West Brom

The Baggies have picked up 21 away points this season - the same as Tottenham. Only Manchester United (33) and Manchester City (24) have won more Premier League points away from home.
Victory would be West Brom's 50th in the Premier League - they currently have 49 wins from 218 matches, with 112 defeats.
Roy Hodgson's men have 35 points from 28 games - it represents their best ever points total at this stage of a Premier League season. Their highest Premier League finish was 11th last season.
